ABOUT

Bistrò Alma’ta is the first Kazakh Cuisine establishment in Italy, ideated and opened by Elmira Berdiyarova: FISAR Certified Sommelier, and expert restauranteur. Previously having opened and managed the first Enoteca in Kazakhstan as well as multiple other Italian restaurants in the country. She subsequently graduated with a Masters in F&B Management at the Parmese ALMA: Scuola Internazionale della Cucina Italiana di Gualtiero Marchesi, which led her to pioneer different intercultural events between her native country and Italy, bringing Italian wine producers to Astana for the Wine Festival “Cin Cin Friuli”, and supervising cultural relations at the Expo in 2017. Two years prior, she was the restaurant manager at the Kazakh Pavilion at the International Expo in Milan.

With this new endeavour, Elmira is combining elements from her past experiences and brings them together in Bistro Alma’ta. Not a restaurant, not a wine bar, but somewhere in-between, this casual bistrot offers thoroughly scouted, particular wines, from all of Italy’s regions. From well-rounded Barberas, to hearthy Sardinian Cannonaus, to the fruity and aromatic Marchese Pecorino. For the more traditional aperitivo accompaniments, we at BA also serve Fred Jerbis’ renowned gins and bitters paired with a bespoke selection of crostinis. But not only this.

Bistro Alma’ta pairs all drinks with the unique dishes of Central Asia and the Caucasus, revisited and adapted for the modern gourmand, particularly expressed through the traditional steam cooked dumplings called “Manty”: stuffed with minced Scottona beef and spiced pumpkin, served with red pepper sauce and sour cream.

We look forward to seeing you!
